New rumor claims more Star Trek shows will be canceled, including Picard as internal stunts between Emma Watts and Alex Kurtzman

A brand new set of Star Trek rumors has surfaced, claiming that there is an internal power struggling between Emma Watts and Alex Kurtzman for the future of Star Trek.

Not only is this new rumor from 4Chan detailing that there is an internal power struggle, but it also claims that Star Trek: Picard Season 2 will not happen and that Lower Decks may get the ax as well.

The rumor begins with claims that “Star Trek Prodigy has been canceled internally, due to Emma Watts pushing to take the Star Trek governments away from Alex Kurtzman and Bad Robot.”

Star Trek: Prodigy was announced by ViacomCBS just a month ago in July. In that announcement, it was revealed that the official Star Trek website revealed that the show was developed by Kevin and Dan Hageman and supervised by Ramsey Naito of Nickelodeon.

The series is expected to be fully CG-animated and follows “a group of lawless teens who discover an abandoned Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning and salvation.”

She announced that the series would debut on Nickelodeon in 2021.

Just a week ago, Star Trek would also announce that they had found a director for the series in Code Hunters’ Ben Hibon. Not only will Hibon direct, but he will also serve as co-executive producer and creative leader.

Naito announced Hibon’s involvement, saying: ‘Ben’s contributions to the world of animation are impossible, and we’re so lucky to have his vision and creative genius Star Trek: Prodigy. As an incredible narrator and a world builder with a distinct vision, his original approach, coupled with this beloved feature, will bring the characters to life in a whole new way. ”

Hibon added his own remarks, ‘Get the chance to work on an IP like Star Trek has been an incredible opportunity, especially as they team up with the talented teams at Nickelodeon, CBS and Secret Hideout – who have pushed the boundaries of what animation and serialized storytelling can deliver to younger audiences. ”

It’s hard to imagine that the show would be canceled 7 days after finding a director, but it’s also not the first time that a show would fall into limbo when having a director added.

As for the internal battle between Kurtzman and Emma Watts, Watts was announced at the end of June as the newly appointed president of Paramount Motion Picture Group, a subsidiary of ViacomCBS.

In a Deadline report, they detailed that Watts’ role would be to “oversee the studio’s film operations from development to release, including Paramount Pictures and Paramount Players production labels, as well as managing the creative / development group. and oversee casting, physical production, post-production and music. ”

Watts made a few remarks, saying, “At such a rapidly evolving time in our company, the rich history of Paramount and commitment to unique and diverse story collection make it essential in this new era of filmmaking.” She added, “I look forward to working with Jim and the rest of the talented Paramount team to continue creating an environment that not only provides stability and confidence in the industry, but also enables the creative community to do their very best work. “

According to another Deadline report earlier this month, Watts’ top priority is Star Trek. They claim that “new film director Emma Watts, who managed many franchises at Fox, is in the process of figuring out which way to go.”

However, it is rumored that Star Trek’s Short Treks have been canceled.

The rumor also adds that Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 will likely be his final season due to Watts’ intervention. The rumor specifically states, “Star Trek Discovery Season 3 has been edited and filmed to end in a series of finals, but was meant to leave things open when there was a possibility for renewal. Thanks to Watts, however, it will definitely not be. ”

Next, it is rumored that Star Trek: Lower Decks may also be on the cutting edge. It states, “Star Trek Lower Decks may or may not survive depending on their viewership, but it is extremely low, which could cause its ‘greenlit’ Season 2 to suddenly evaporate.

Star Trek: Lower Decks was initially reported by Deadline to have a two-season order in October 2018.

The rumor would then appeal to Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. It claims “Strange New Worlds so far has not been affected, but if Kurtzman is completely removed, then the lead on it will also change and Akiva Goldsman will also be removed.”

The rumor then claims Star Trek: Picard Season 2 “will not happen.” It claims, “Sir Patrick is contractually bound to speak positively about the production in public, but that will stop in November when he will be released from his contract and the show will be formally canceled.”

Stewart has regularly discussed a second season happening. Just a little over a month ago, Stewart sat down with Wil Wheaton and told him that season 2 happened.

Stewart explained: ‘I already had some encouraging news yesterday about when we might start anew. You know that all these predictions depend on the best possible circumstance. ‘

He added, “I can tell you that CBS is fully committed to another season of our show. Fully committed. That will happen.”

“Other than that, I’m not provocative, but I do not really have much to tell you,” Stewart concluded.

Stewart’s confidence of a Picard Season 2 comes after the show saw more than half a million drops of viewership in the first season in just Canada. A recent report by Giant Freakin Robot claimed that the show had lost at least 45% of its total viewership.

The rumor then doubled to the idea that there is a power struggle between Watts, Kurtzman, and JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot. Finally, “An internal power struggle over Trek takes place between Watts and Kurtzman, supported by JJ Abrams, who gains profits from all new Trek shows via Bad Robot license.”

It then claims that the entire Star Trek production list could be wiped out if the winning win comes against Kurtzman and JJ Abrams, “If Watts manages to remove them, the Trek production size will be wiped clean and a deal will be made with a new one. showrunner. ”
