Oculus Quest 2 could be with us as early as September 15 if a new rumor is created, and the same leak has given us one more look at the design of the next virtual reality headset.
After posting an official-looking render on Twitter a few days ago, the well-known tipster @ h0x0d aka WalkingCat has returned with several more images and a possible release date of September 15.
Considering that previous reports had suggested that the big reveal could have been traced back to 2021, we are pleased to hear that Oculus Quest 2 is coming and going on sale this year after all. Perhaps.
Compared to the original Oculus Quest released in May 2019, this one looks much more aesthetically pleasing, with white and pink replacing the rather dark black of the first model. According to reports, it will also be lighter.

Other improvements rumored for the Oculus Quest 2 include an upgrade to the lenses, which provides higher resolution and a wider field of view, and a pair of more ergonomic drivers to find your way through virtual reality spaces.
Other images posted on Reddit and Twitter seem to show a real Oculus Quest 2 in the real world, though the origin of these images is less clear: There’s a black-and-white color scheme on display, as well as another shot of the drivers.
The new device is likely to attract a lot of attention when it officially appears. Although not as powerful as the Oculus Rift S, the Oculus Quest is wireless and doesn’t need to be connected to a PC to power its graphics.
That makes it an attractive standalone entry point into the world of virtual reality, and with a starting price of $ 399 / £ 399 (around AU $ 560) it’s also more affordable than headphones from the past. The general consensus seems to be that Oculus could price the Quest 2 even lower.
