New Fear The Walking Dead trailer is better than the last two seasons combined

I want to believe.

I just don’t think I should.

After a stellar third season, the AMC Fear of the living dead he slid slowly, and then quite quickly, into a joking version of his old self.

Far from being terrifying, the show turned into an extravagant redemption story. Cartoon villains, hot air balloons, and a truly ridiculous scene with a tank truck filled with ethanol, not to mention that all the characters suddenly became a Morgan clone, all served to completely ruin what was once a drama. very nice zombie.

And it didn’t help that both Madison and Nick were killed in one fell swoop, although if they had stayed they would both have been blabbering about “helping people make up for past mistakes.” Truly, both Kim Dickinson and Frank Dillane came out while getting was good.

But man, this season 6 trailer is on point. Launched during virtual Comic-Con this weekend, it shows our heroes in truly desperate situations. It is dark, scary and violent. It has none of the bewilderingly light-hearted tone of Season 5.

Have a look:

Fear of The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead and World beyond Everyone returns this October. Read more about it here.

Okay, some scattered thoughts:

When I saw it a second time, I noticed the name of the city where the pioneers live and they took some of their prisoners: Lawton.

It is comforting to know that some of the cheeses from the past two seasons will still be with us in Season 6. Lawton, TX. Where there is law! And the order! A whole city full of law and order!

Large gas consumers remain

I will follow up with some negative remarks before turning to the good stuff. For example, the stupid truck and even stupid SWAT van are still with us. These gas consumers are ridiculous and I have to go. Explore them both, and do it with several of the annoying characters inside.

It looks like the truck is being chased by these mysterious types of hockey masks (look, even the bad guys are wearing masks, we can do it too!), One of the ones we saw earlier in the trailer when Dwight opens the curtain. Sinister.

The bounty hunter

This show needs to reduce its cast. It seems like we won’t know one way or the other if Morgan is alive. Virginia has hired a bounty hunter to find him, whether he is dead, alive, or undead. This new bounty hunter appears to be the new central antagonist of the show along with Virginia herself.

Frankly, I hope Morgan is dead. She hasn’t brought anything else lame to this show and I’d like to see her dead or again The Walking Dead where he had a better, less central role to play. But he’s probably alive and probably everyone will get together at the end of the season.

MORE FROM FORBESThis is when the final season 10 of ‘The Walking Dead’ airs, plus a big surprise

This season is going to be an “anthology”.

It’s hard to tell from the trailer, but from what the showrunners have said this season, he’s taking a dramatically different approach to storytelling. The gang is not only separated, but they will not be together again soon. The season will focus on individual stories, although I suppose the bounty hunter character will go between different characters and knit everything together.

Remember the day when The Walking Dead Would you only focus on one or two characters per episode? It was fine here and there, but it got pretty annoying pretty fast. I wonder if it will work better in Fear.

Apparently, there will be some major jumps as well, possibly speeding up the show with The Walking Dead, which is years in the future right now.

In any case, I want to keep a little hope that this season will be redemptive. I want to believe it will be as dark and scary as this trailer makes it appear. But I just don’t have faith in people running and writing Fear. Maybe they learned a few things in the past two seasons. Maybe they listened to fans and critics who were pretty close in their disdain. Perhaps we will never have to endure another idiotic documentary made by our heroes to spread the Gospel according to Morgan again.

I want to believe.

I just don’t think I should.
