New Animal Crossing villager discovered in Gigaleak archives

There are as many files to explore within Gigaleak, a collection of leaked files from classic Nintendo games as there are Super mario 64 and The world of Super Mario. It turns out there are also files from the original Nintendo Animal crossing game called Dobutsu no Mori, which was released in 2001. An improved version of Dobutsu no Mori, called dobutsu no mori+, was released as Animal crossing in 2002: A GameCube game released worldwide.

A game developer named Matthew Lombardo, who uses online television, accessed the leaked files and posted his findings on Twitter this week. Lombardo extracted a lot of Dobutsu no Mori character models and turned them into “something visible,” he said. All the models you have checked out so far are uploaded to your website; Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans will probably recognize many of them.

Among the files, Lombardo found an unused villager named Cat13, who appears to have never made it to an Animal Crossing game. We still don’t know much about her, only that she looks grumpy. But as data miners continue to search Dobutsu no Mori files, you could find more references to it.

For a better view, Lombardo put the Cat13 model on Dobutsu no Mori e +, according to Kotaku

Cat13, nicknamed Catty by Lombardo, joins Chestnut in the list of cut characters in Dobutsu no Mori. Chestnut was found in the game archives a while ago, but people have speculated that it was never her intention as a villager. Instead, data miners believe that he is actually a traveling character, like Redd or Leif.

With Gigaleak, there is a chance that Animal Crossing fans will get some answers on Chestnut as well, depending on what else is in as players dig into a major jailbreak.
