‘Never Have I Ever’ renewed for season 2 on Netflix – Deadline

Teen Comedy I have never, with an outstanding performance by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, will return for a second season.

The series, which was co-created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, received a second 10-part series directed by Netflix.

Ramakrishnan will reprise her lead role as high school student Devi Vishwakumar along with the returning cast including Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Jaren Lewison, Darren Barnet, Lee Rodriguez and Ramona Young.

The show follows the complicated life of a modern first-generation American Indian teenager, dealing with issues of family, sexuality, and high school. Vishwakumar, from Ramakrishnan, is 15 years old and lives in Sherman Oaks, California, and wants to change her social status after a horrible year that included losing her father and being locked in a wheelchair for three months.

Fisher serves as a writer, executive producer, and showrunner with the Kaling executive producing alongside Howard Klein and David Miner of 3 Arts Entertainment. It is produced by Universal Television in association with 3 Arts Entertainment, Original Langster, and Kaling International.

The program, which launched in April, has been applauded for its accurate description of high school, as well as for its inclusion and breaking of South Asian stereotypes.

“I think it’s great that we have a story like I have never but it is depressing that this is happening in 2020 and although we can applaud the breakdown of stereotypes but we cannot forget that we still have a lot of work to do, “Ramakrishnan told Deadline last month.” Devi is just a story. Hopefully As much as this show inspires other minorities around the world, it also inspires directors, producers, creators, and writers to start incorporating that natural inclusion into their shows. “
