The last entry in the broadcast wars is here: NBC Universal’s Peacock TV. What is it? What will it offer? Where can you stream Peacock? How can you get Peacock for free and more importantly how can you cancel Peacock?
How to get NBC’s Peacock on Android, Android TV
Peacock TV isn’t launching on Roku or Amazon Fire TV yet, but you can get it on all Google platforms. Android smartphones can download the Peacock app directly through Google Play Store here, and that app will also support Google Chromecast via the icon in the top corner of the app.
Beyond phones and tablets, the NBC app is also available on Android TV. Peacock for Android TV is also available through the Google Play Store, although on launch morning it’s a bit tricky for it to appear directly in the search. However, you can install the app remotely through the Play Store on the web. There, press install, find your Android TV device in the dropdown menu and press install. Moments later, the app should appear on your Android TV device.
What content will be available on Peacock?
NBC’s Peacock TV will be home to thousands of hours of TV and movies you know and love. The service won’t launch with some of its biggest titles, but it will eventually become the exclusive home of streaming favorites like The office, Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn nine nine, and many others. The service also extracts nightly content such as Saturday night live, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, and others. Daily news content is also available.
On top of all that, you’ll also get hundreds of feature films from Universal, DreamWorks Animation, and Focus Features.
Peacock will also launch original content on the platform starting this year with many projects in development. That includes Psych 2: Lassie returns home, Brave New World, Cleopatra in space, new seasons of Where’s Waldo? and Curious George, and more.
How much does the peacock cost?
NBC has three price tiers for Peacock TV, making cost a bit of a confusing discussion.
Perhaps one of the biggest marketing points for Peacock TV is the fact that the service is technically free to start. You can simply sign up for an account and start streaming an ad-supported content library without paying a dime.
However, to unlock more content, you will have to pay. Peacock’s “Premium” tier costs $ 4.99 per month and still shows ads, but it unlocks the much larger content library. Finally, there is “Peacock Premium Plus” that costs $ 9.99 per month. That final tier doesn’t add more content, but it removes ads from the service. This is similar to Hulu. Finally, the $ 9.99 level will also be the only way to download content offline.
In summary, Peacock is free, but you will pay $ 4.99 per month or $ 49.99 annually for Peacock Premium. So Peacock Premium Plus costs $ 9.99 per month or $ 99.99 annually.
How to get free Peacock Premium
Peacock is free, but its paid levels are definitely better. Fortunately, there is a way to get that for free! For Android users, Google and NBC are offering Peacock Premium completely free for three months.
After registering on an Android device, you will receive an email with a redeemable code to get the three free months of Premium. However, that offer code must be redeemed within approximately one month from the first time you sign up. You must also register for the service of An Android device.
However, you will need to redeem that code from the web, either on a mobile device or on a computer.
How to cancel Peacock TV
If you decide that Peacock TV is not for you, canceling your account is not particularly easy. To change from a paid to free plan, you can do it only from your account settings. This stops payment, but does not “cancel” your Peacock account.
NBC has a support page that details how to cancel Peacock TV, but does not provide a very good explanation of how to cancel / remove your Peacock account. So how can it be done? You can send a request to NBC through this form (h / t Justin Duino) to request that your account be canceled. It is not immediate, but you should close your account.
