Nationals’ Stephen Strasburg shot out for arguments while sitting in Citi Field stands

NEW YORK – A pitcher throwing out arguments for balls and strikes – on his day off? And from the stands?

Nationals star Stephen Strasburg earned one of the most unusual ejections of baseball in the third end of Washington’s game against the New York Mets on Thursday.

Strasburg sat in section 121 at Citi Field during this socially entertaining season as he plans to start Friday against the Baltimore Orioles. He was apparently not happy with the regional zone of flat umpire Carlos Torres, after the 2-2 play from Austin Voth to Pete Alonso ruled a ball on the outside corner.

A little later, Torres knocked out the MVP of the World Series last year, although it took a few seconds to realize who was thrown.

Someone was heard screaming, “You are [expletive] brutally “shortly before television cameras Strasburg was imprisoned with the cap of his hat as he stepped up the stairs on his way out of the park.

“Sorry, people – sorry, FCC,” said Mets broadcaster Gary Cohen on SNY.

The most stoic Strasburg appeared to glitter under his blue mask as he made his exit.

Strasburg is not the first pitcher to be removed from the stands this year, as it happened with Pittsburgh’s Derek Holland on July 26th.
