NASCAR video explains Choose Rule for All-Star Race in Bristol


The story will be made on Wednesday night when NASCAR performs the All-Star Race at Bristol Motor Speedway for the first time.

The night will be full of many other novelties. Cars will have unique paint schemes focused on their sponsors. Drivers who automatically qualified for the All-Star race will have anti-glare lights on their cars. This will be the first NASCAR national event with the rule of choice.

Here is everything you need to know before the Wednesday night event.

START: All-Star Open: The command to start the engines is at 7:02 pm The green flag is scheduled for 7:10 pm All-Star Race: The command to start the engines is at 8:56 pm The green flag is at 9:01 pm

PRERACE: The garage access health exam begins at noon (teams are assigned at specific times). All-Star Open: Driver Presentations at 6:43 pm Drivers report to cars at 6:45 pm Summons at 6:54 pm All-Star Race: Driver Presentations at 8:35 pm Invocation at 8:47 pm National Anthem at 8:49 pm

DISTANCES: All-Star Open: 85 laps around the half-mile track. All-Star Race: 140 laps

SEGMENTS All-Star Open: 35 laps / 35 laps / 15 laps. All-Star Race: 55 laps / 35 laps / 35 laps / 15 laps (only green flag laps count in the final segment)

CHOOSE THE RULE FOR THE CAREER OF ALL STARS: Competitors can choose which lane to restart. The rule is detailed here.

GOING FORWARD: The winners of each stage in the Open will advance to the All-Star Race. A fourth pilot will advance through a fan vote.

TV / RADIO: FS1 will televise the race. Coverage begins at 7pm. Motor Racing Network radio coverage will begin at 6:30 pm and can also be heard on mrn.com. SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will broadcast the broadcast.

FORECAST: For the All-Star Open, wunderground.com is forecasting partly cloudy skies, a high of 87 degrees and a chance of rain at first. For the All-Star Race, forecast a maximum of 81 degrees and no chance of rain.

LAST STAR CAREER: Kyle Larson defeated Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch to claim their victory in the All-Star Race.
