“My job is not to be afraid” Alexei Navalny promises to fight for 60 minutes

Alexei Navalny always decides to fight what he sees as corruption in his native Russia.

The Russian opposition leader recently survived an assassination attempt where he is believed to have been poisoned. This was the latest and most serious threat to his life.

The 44-year-old fell ill during a commercial flight to his home country. The plane made an emergency landing in Siberia, where he remained in hospital for two days until the Russian government allowed Navalny to travel to a hospital in Berlin by air ambulance.

The Kremlin critic told Leslie Stahl, a 60-minute correspondent, that he believed Russian President Vladimir Putin was responsible for his poisoning.

“[There is a] “Navalni told Stahl.” No criminal investigation has taken place yet. If Putin is not responsible then why not investigate? “

Reports of toxicology from labs in France and Sweden confirmed the findings of a German military lab that Navalny was poisoned by military grade Novichok, a nerve agent developed by the Soviet Union at the end of the Cold War.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said there was evidence beyond doubt that Mr Navalny had been poisoned with the help of a Novichok group of military-grade nerve agents.

The Russian government has denied any wrongdoing.

In 2017, when Stah Hale interviewed Navalny for the first time in 60 minutes, she asked him if the movement he led was worth his life.

“I’m trying to think about this,” Navalny said for 60 minutes in 2017, “because look, I think I’m willing to sacrifice everything for my job and for those people. [are] Around me. I am not [going to] Let them down. And I’m trying not to reflect on it all the time. “

After the assassination attempt on August 20 this year, Stahl asked Navalni the same question.

“I think so [strongly] And I think they try to make this happen [assassination] Try and now, from my experience it is not theoretical for me … if they will try to kill me, “Navalny told Stahl in his recent interview,” Am I a little scared? Will I quit my job because they are trying to kill me? Now from my experience, from personal experience, I just know that I have no fear. And I am ready to continue working. “

Navalny told Stahl that the Kremlin was doing everything in its power to prevent him from returning to Russia. He thinks of going back.
