China and Nepal jointly announced a new official height for Mount Everest, ending the discrepancy between the two countries.

A team of mountaineers and surveyors from the Government of Nepal scaled Everest in May 2019 and installed GPS and satellite devices to measure the depth of peak and ice depth on the summit.
