The Moto G 5G has now been leaked in a series of press releases showing for the first time the first Motorola G-series with 5G technology.
[[[[Update 07/02]: It appears that the full specs of the Moto G 5G also surfaced but with a different name. According to XDA came into possession of the “Moto Edge Lite” specs, it turns out these were indeed the specs for this device, after being confirmed by Evan Blass (@evleaks)
So what are we working on here? Well, this convoluted leakage saga has the Moto G 5G that comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, 4GB of RAM, but not to mention storage capabilities.
On the back, the camera will be based on a 48-megapixel main sensor and, as we speculate, will come with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens called “wide video,” a 5-megapixel macro sensor and 2- depth sensor. megapixels. Probably on par for the course on a supposed “budget” phone.
It will ship with Android 10, which suggests a release before the full version of Android 11 drops in the coming months. A 90Hz 21: 9 FHD + refresh rate display is also an interesting inclusion, though we’re still not sure about the screen dimensions.
As for the Moto G 5G Plus, it is simply a larger version of the phone mentioned above. It comes with the same Snapdragon 765G chipset, either 4 or 6 GB of RAM, 64 or 128 GB of internal storage, and the same rear camera setup. The double drill hole notch will house an 8 megapixel sensor and a 2 megapixel depth sensor. This is a bigger phone and will come with a gigantic 4,800 mAh battery that will support 18W fast charge.
Leaks courtesy of XDA It hints that it will come with a large 6.7-inch FHD + display with a 90Hz refresh rate. That will also be in the 21: 9 aspect, however it will also include a fingerprint scanner on the screen according to this previous report.
With the return of Motorola, now owned by Lenovo, to flagship smartphones with the Motorola Edge + earlier this year, it didn’t appear that the company’s budget device base would be left behind. The immensely popular Moto G series is one of those lineups Motorola will count on for a long time yet.
However, with the constant launch of 5G, hopefully we will see a Moto G with connectivity. Leaked renderings of Moto G 5G courtesy of OG leaker Evan Blass, aka @evleaks, who shared them on his Patreon account. The images show what appears to be a suitable double hole notch. By this we mean that it is two different holes instead of a pill cutout. It is strange but, at least, it attracts attention.
The specs are pretty unknown, but the slightly grainy image appears to have embossed “48MP” underneath the four-camera array at the rear. So expect to see a camera setup that relies heavily on a 48-megapixel primary sensor. We would bet that we will see an ultra wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens with zoom, with a macro or depth sensor that completes the quintet of camera options.
From the Moto G 5G renderings side, you can see what appears to be a side mounted capacitive fingerprint reader. It looks like the iconic Motorola logo dimple won’t hide a scanner this time, which is a shame.
With the Motorola One Fusion occupying the price point below $ 300, it’s unclear where this upcoming Moto G will fit in the product line. The Moto G8 Plus sells for around $ 250 in the US, which would generally be the price we would expect the Moto G to hit. However, 5G will certainly increase that price.
As Qualcomm just announced the 5G-enabled Snapdragon 690 chipset, it wouldn’t be hard to see that the Moto G 5G will come with the new chipset. Qualcomm also confirmed that we will see Motorola hardware packaging the super-fast data chipsets in the second half of 2020. We would expect to learn more about this device based on this tidbit in the coming months.
