Fans of Elvis Presley keep his memory alive.
More than 700 fans of the singer have reserved spots to commemorate the wave of candlelight for the anniversary of the death of the rock ‘n’ roll icon in Memphis, Tenn.
The event was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Every year, in mid-August, thousands of Presley devotees from around the world descend on Graceland’s tourist attraction to commemorate the late singer and actor on the anniversary of his death. Fans carry candles as they walk past his grave near the house where he died on August 16, 1977.
This year, Elvis Presley’s Graceland has limited the number of people who will be allowed to attend the vigil in person, in view of security measures and social distance protocols brought about by the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Graceland reserved 720 spots for fans to personally attend the Saturday watch, and all were filled, said Alicia Dean, marketing, promotions and events specialist at Graceland.

The event will also be live-streamed on Graceland’s website.
The vigil is the keystone event of Elvis Week, which began August 8th. Some in-person, pre-booked events are offered during the week. But other potentially “high-risk events” – live performances, group parties, autograph signings and meet-and-greets – were eliminated.
