More than 300 people in India are hospitalized with an unknown disease

Patients in Iluru city, The report is in the state of Andhra Pradesh Dola Joshi Roy, district surveillance officer in West Godavari district of Eluru, said the weekend had a range of symptoms, including seizures, loss of consciousness and some nausea.

As India continues to fight the Kovid-1p epidemic, it has become the second most infected country in the world. Andhra Pradesh is one of the worst affected states, with more than 800,000 confirmed cases currently.

But Kovid-19 was not a reason to be admitted to the collective hospital over the weekend.

“All patients have tested negative for Covid-19,” Roy said, adding that about 180 patients have now been discharged, while the rest are “stable.” The deceased patient reported similar symptoms to others, but was followed by a fatal but unrelated cardiac arrest, he said.

A preliminary blood test found no evidence of a viral infection such as dengue or chickenpox, both caused by mosquito bites, according to a note issued by the Andhra Pradesh health department.

Authorities are now testing water samples for contaminants in Eluru after all patients were found to be getting their water from a common source. Samples have been collected from 57,863 households and sent to a forensic laboratory.

“The cause is still unknown but we are still conducting all kinds of tests, including testing for food and milk,” Roy said.

Specialists from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and neurologists from outside the state have also arrived in Eluru to take further neurotoxic tests, awaiting results.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy visited the patients on Monday.
