It sounds crazy and reversible, but there are plans to colonize the moon, and frankly, it looks pretty cool.
Here’s the thing. NASA is promising 2 astronauts – one man and one woman – to land on the moon by 2024. Part of the mission is to study the lunar colonization, using lunar objects to create structures where astronauts can and do study the planet.
The cylinders in the photo will protect the astronauts from radiation and zero temps. They will be made from regolith, which is the lacking word for lunar dirt. Scientists believe that regolith can be used to make bricks, which are hardened under the heat of the sun.
For inhaled air … The crane where ice sits contains ice in the crater, which contains oxygen, oxygen and hydrogen.
Scientists call the colony “Moon Village”. NASA is considering using the moon as a home base to launch astronauts to Mars … early next decade.
None of this could have been achieved without power … but solar panels reflecting the sun’s heat would do the trick.
This is a brave, new, out of this world.
