Montana health officials reported three new deaths and 175 new cases on Wednesday, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.
Yellowstone County reported the highest number of new cases with 75, followed by Rosebud County with 24. Big Horn County reported 16 new cases, Phillips County reported 15, and Gallatin County reported 12 new cases. (Update 21 hours Big Horn County reported 12 additional cases Wednesday night.)
The remaining new cases were spread across 14 Montana counties.

The number of deaths statewide increased by three to a total of 80. The number of hospitalizations increased from 77 on Tuesday to 97 on Wednesday.
One of the new deaths was reported in Yellowstone County. Here is the full press release from RiverStone Health:
RiverStone Health, the Yellowstone County Public Health Department, reports an additional COVID-19-related death of a Yellowstone County resident.
On Friday, August 7, a woman in her 80s died at a Yellowstone County hospital.
To protect the privacy of the deceased and their family, RiverStone Health will not release any further information about the death.
This most recent death is reflected on the August 12, 2020 state COVID-19 tracking map.
‘Words can not describe our grief for yet another loss of life from COVID-19. We wish the family and friends of the deceased peace when they mourn, “said John Felton, Yellowstone County Health Officer and RiverStone Health President and CEO.
He went on to say: “With each passing year, we are reminded that the risk of serious COVID-19 disease increases with age. Of the 31 deaths recorded in the province, with the exception of two, all individuals are those.” t are more than 60 years old.We must all take measures to protect the most vulnerable by wearing masks, watching our distance and washing our hands.Being at home while you are sick and preventing crowds are also important preventive measures . ”
To date, 1,387 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 31 have died.
Ravalli County and Flathead County reported the other additional deaths.
There have been 3,598 recidivisms and there are currently 1,590 active cases in the state.
Yellowstone County reports the most active cases with 652. Big Horn COunty has the second highest number of active cases with 311, and Missoula County now has 101 active cases. Rosebud County has 30 active cases.
Active case
There have been a cumulative total of 5,268 coronavirus cases statewide since the pandemic began. The state has conducted a total of 196,036 tests for the virus, an increase of 1,624 in the previous 24-hour reporting.
