Missed Fists: Odd Referee Resets Dooms Fighter, More

Welcome to the latest version of Missed Fists where we shed light on fights around the world, which may have been overlooked in this busy time where there seems to be an MMA show every other day.

The teenage daughter of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir – marking Thursday as a neat moment in the history of combat sports – made a successful start to the MMA, defeating Daniel Win by a unanimous decision. That turn came at the Icon Fighting Federation show in Sonora, Mexico and while you can read all about Mir’s performance in this story, you can check out the oddities of our choice from the card here.

Daniel Palomares vs. Anthony Jimenez

The iconic battles took place in a five-rope ring instead of a cage, which led to some bizarre moments when the glittering exchanges pushed the fighters out of bounds. The same thing happened with Daniel Palomeres and Anthony Jimenez, forcing referee Cervando Licano to reset in the middle of the ring.

What Leica failed to do put Jimenez in a position where he could defend himself properly.

Yes, Palomeras already had his back so it wasn’t the best place for Jimenez, but before the action could resume properly, Lico put Palomeras right under his neck. Take Bold: That led to an error ending directly.

Pellomares is good for the first full earnings of his career, I guess? ‘Take them if you can’.

Joshua Framed v. Antonio Jones
Carlos Hernandez vs. Trevor Wells
Sam Hughes v. Daniel Hindley

Also on the UFC Fight Pass, LFA 93 last Friday in Park City, Ken. Was held in, where Joshua Framde stole the show with a ruthless ending to Antonio Jones.

Would definitely like to see the framed walkway, but at the same time you will not be able to fire until the referee. If Jade Mesheju were around, he would say something like, “Well it wasn’t too framed-rhythm!” But it’s not, so we won’t.

In a more healthy proceeding, Carlos Hernandez paid tribute to GOAT Artem Lobov with this standing hammer strike against Trevor Wells.

Hernandez proceeded to make a unanimous decision. I am not saying that this one strike won him over the judges, but I am not saying that. It certainly won America’s heart, that’s for sure.

MMA can sometimes be poetic. When we last saw Sam Hughes in Missed Fists, she was at the end of a vicious vertical triangle that knocked her unconscious and would probably be a nightmare for her to lose the chance to be the opening LFA Stroweight champion.

That was three months ago. This time, it’s Hughes who left someone lying, slapping Daniel Hindley on the guillotine square.

This is one way to make a statement for a rematch and you can trust that Hughes will probably have a fight to get a chance to rematch with Vanessa DeMopou Los, who defended her title against Lupita Godinez next Friday.

Kirill Kornilov v. Anton Vinikov

Before we move on, we want to pause for an important safety declaration: Never, never slip your foot when you hook your hook!

Anton Vinikov will play funny for a while after that mistake.

Thanks to the excellent people of Vinikov, Kirill Kornilov and the Gorilla Fighting Championship for this performance. You can catch the full replay of GFC29 on YouTube.

Juan Roman vs. Mike Ship

Juan Roman is here to kick everything alive outside the mic ship last Friday at Eldridge, Iowa, CJ Aggression 28.

Let’s go to Jeffrey Wilson on the call to break this:

“OO HUHULI HOLY HOLY SH * t OH MY GOD She is Ladies and Humble”

Sounds about right.

Alexander Mikhailin v. Mikhail Samchik

This upcoming clip of World Warriors Fighting Championships 17 in Lviv, Ukraine shows a lot about what we love about international MMA: a man with a 3-0 record beats a man with a 0-0 record, a lost fighter is temporarily converted into a wavy tube. And, most importantly, a knockout that only takes 10 seconds to open.

Congratulations to Alexander Mikhailin for winning the fourth and to Mikhail Samchik, next time.

You can check out the full replay of WWFC17 on YouTube.

Rodrigo Lydio vs. Adelson Fernandez
Lucas Souza v. Andre Leandro

Brazil’s Future MMA promotion has not only become a reliable provider of legitimate prospects, but there are cool highlights, and last Friday’s show in Sao Paulo (available for free replay on YouTube) was no different.

Rodrigo “The Dynamis” Lidio broke Adelson “Jack Godzilla” Fernandez with a knee-jerk knock to finish before he had a chance to start Fernandez’s lightweight title.

At the start of the card, the other two lightweights started his favor and it was Lucas Souza who got the better of Andre Leandro with a sweet arm-triangle from below.

Singhall Diamond 98 vs Timothy Khamal

Giving Lydia’s knee a run for her money for the Most Wise Shot the Week Award is Muay Thai Fighter Single Diamond 98. Singday popped Timothy Khamal with a jumping switch kick and if you slow it down you can see that his glow caught nothing but boredom. .

Jens Silva vs Gustavo Prado

Somehow, in spite of all this, we have one of the most watched shows in Rio de Janeiro on Com 55 (free reps available on YouTube) that can take it all to the top.

Jens Silva kicked the ball. Gustavo Prado nodded when he should have zigzagged.

Darkness.

Stefanos Roupacs v. Daniel Viveros

Before we say goodbye, we have to put off a long wait for Karate Combat, which is currently airing its second season on its YouTube channel with a free show. Their first occasions showcased some innovative ideas with a fighting pit, clearly featuring videos that showed the personality of their competitors and a combination of martial arts rules to bring the ancient art of karate into the modern world.

Season 2 cranks everyone up to 11, making the most of the epidemic by shooting in the studio and using green screens and computer graphics to create elaborate fantasy settings for their events. For example, this past Sunday’s “Scrap Punk” episode apparently took place in a revelation where Karate is king.

Look, it’s weird. Also give him a shot. Although I will be honest, the last time I checked …

That’s not how a karate.

Thanks again for joining us and don’t forget, we’re less than a month away from:

I think this is the path that leads us to the terrible future of karate combat.
