Miley Cyrus mourns the death of her grandmother: ‘You will be my inspiration forever’


Miley Cyrus looks back on the good times with her late grandmother.

The star hung tribute to her late grandmother on Saturday in a series of messages.

In the first post, Cyrus, 27, shared a handful of photos and videos with herself and her grandmother.

In one video, Loretta Finley, mother of Cyrus’ mother Tish, told a reporter to call her “Mammie” while in another dance together after Madonna’s “4 Minutes” with her famous grandmother.

The photos also included a throwback from Finley holding a young Cyrus, and a shot of her sitting in the seat of ‘Wrecking Ball’ on the set of ‘The Voice’.

“Even if you are gone …. NOTHING will or will change. You will forever be my inspiration and fashion icon,” Cyrus wrote in the title. “Even more than that, be the ultimate model of a truly Light in a dark world. You are sunshine. Every day [sic.] I wake up and see that hot ball in the air I will see your face. “

Cyrus said she will also say a prayer to offer thanks for “the best grandmother a girl could ever have given.

“I will miss you for the rest of my life … I will keep your spirit here by continuing to do good for others and treat them the way we all want to be treated,” the singer continued. “With an infinite amount of the same gentle kindness you showed daily. We will have pain every day [sic.] you are not with us …. “

Next came a video with a few short clips of Finley with Cyrus.

A third and final post showed Cyrus, Finley and Snoop Dogg, with the last two taking care of.

“Mommy baked brownies with @snoopdogg,” the musician wrote “Midnight Sky”. “She never knew we were wet in her seats.”

She concluded: “I will miss you and your good cookin ‘so much.”

According to Entertainment Tonight, Cyrus also shared a post on her Instagram story to explain her recent absence from social media.

“To my fans: I know it feels like I’ve been gone these last few days …. but someone who means more to me than words can say, did the same,” she said. “I’m completely heartbroken [sic]. My Mommy is gone but never forgotten. She has always been a legend and will continue to live by love, compassion and kindness.

The messages also included what Cyrus called one of the “life lessons” she learned from her grandmother: “Love is love, no matter what.”

“When I was growing up … I was just hoping to be a sliver of the incredible woman who was my Mommy …. and is,” the singer added. “She could never be erased.”
