Microsoft Flight Simulator will launch on Steam, with VR support coming later this year as part of a free update. “Microsoft Flight Simulator for PC will support VR through HP Reverb G2. It will be available later this fall,” Microsoft Flight Simulator boss Jorg Neumann revealed during a press conference. In an attached post on the Xbox blog, it was announced that the game will hit Steam on launch day, as well as Windows 10 and Xbox Game Pass for PC, which is currently in beta.Neumann told Eurogamer that VR support will be coming to other headsets beyond the Reverb G2 later. “We will take it to all devices, to all common devices,” Neumann told Eurogamer. “It will only take a few more months after that.”
During the same briefing, Neumann described Microsoft Flight Simulator as “a constantly changing and evolving platform” with more features and more aircraft to come in the coming years.
Following the launch of the game, the Asobo team “intends to release something meaningful every month.”
Free global updates will come every two to three months and will focus on a specific area of the world, with custom airports and missions. Free sim updates will address the features of the community wish list among them. Asobo is also planning paid DLC for Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Neumann mentioned helicopters and heliports as a potential focus.Our preview of Microsoft Flight Simulator came earlier today.
