Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. shared a wild conspiracy theory about the COVID-19 pandemic and claimed he was never vaccinated in a Snapchat question-and-answer session on Tuesday night, just days before that the NBA season is scheduled to resume.
Porter, who is in his first season playing with the Nuggets after missing the entire 2018-19 season recovering from a back injury, claimed that the coronavirus is being used to control the world population and that it is being exaggerated.
“Personally, I think coronavirus is obviously being used for a broader agenda,” said Porter. “It is being used for population control in terms of being able to control the masses of people.
“Due to this virus, everyone is being controlled. You should wear masks, and who knows what will happen when this vaccine comes out. You may need to be vaccinated in order to travel. That would be crazy. ”
There are still many unknowns surrounding the coronavirus, a deadly virus that has been unleashed worldwide in recent months and forced the league to form a bubble at Walt Disney World. There were more than 4.3 million confirmed cases and it was credited with nearly 150,000 deaths in the United States alone as of Tuesday night, according to The New York Times, and a vaccine is not yet expected to be available for long enough.
However, claiming that the coronavirus was created for “population control” around the world is a conspiracy theory without any foundation.
Porter claims he has never been vaccinated
Porter continued his spiel, claiming that he had never received a vaccine.
“I was never vaccinated in my life. I’ve never had any shots or anything like that, ”he said.
This is almost certainly not true.
Porter attended Missouri and played basketball for the Tigers during the 2017-18 season, although he appeared in just three games due to a back injury. To attend Missouri, all students are required to “comply with the Two-Dose MMR Immunization Policy,” which means they must either have received the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine, or be able to demonstrate that they are immune to these diseases.
It is more than likely that Porter has been vaccinated as a child like most children in the United States and simply does not realize it. If the 22-year-old was never vaccinated, he will have to explain to Missouri.
Porter Jr. was averaging 7.5 points and 4.1 rebounds from the bench for the Nuggets this season before the game was suspended. Denver will enter the restart with a record of 43-22, the third-best in the Western Conference.
