Basketball great Michael Jordan has opened another health clinic for insurance in his hometown of Charlotte, aimed at providing ‘critical services’ during a coronavirus epidemic.
The 57-year-old sports icon praised the success of the Navont Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic in West Charlotte, which opened last year, as it announced the unveiling of a new North location.
Both locations were made possible by a 7 7 million grant from Michael Jordan three years ago. They work to close the health equity space, which provides comprehensive primary care – something that has been made clearer by COVID-19.

“When we came together in view of the first collapse of the last clinic, no one would have predicted that we would face a global epidemic in just five months,” said Jordan L’Nching.
‘I am very proud of the positive impact our clinic has had on the community so far, especially during COVID-19. Our second clinic will provide crucial services to further improve Charlotte’s health and life, which is very important to me and to Novent Health. ‘
The 6,800-square-foot North End Clinic, located on Statesville Avenue, will be stocked with 12 patients’ examination rooms, X-ray rooms and space for physical therapy. A full-time clinical social worker will also be on hand to help ‘address those social determinants of health’.
Navont Health has high expectations for their second place, as the first has performed very well in the year of its existence.

“We will give Charlotte’s North End community equal access to comprehensive care that will transform lives at the Novent Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic in West Charlotte,” said Carl Armato, CEO and President of Novent Health.
‘The impact of the first clinic is measurable and if COVID-19 has taught us anything, it’s important to have accessible, safe and quality care in communities that desperately need it. Michael Jordan’s commitment to improving the health of our communities and society is very original. We are very grateful to be a partner in bringing care and resources to those who would otherwise be without it. ‘
3, More than 350 patients – including more than 450 children – have been seen at Freedom Drive. As many as 700 patients have been assisted by the clinic’s social worker, with about 80 patients being referred for additional behavioral health care.
“We were dealt with some very difficult cards in 2020,” Jordan said during a zoom call during the launch announcement. ‘I hope 2021 will be better’
The Freedom Drive Clinic transitioned to the Respiratory Assessment Center in April to help provide ‘accessible COVID-19 screening, testing, treatment and education’.
“It’s a very emotional thing to be able to give back to a community that has supported me for years,” Jordan said last year.
More than 14,000 COVID-19 tests have been performed at the clinic and 12,600 mobile health appointments have been made. Those in need of primary care were redirected to a nearby clinic.
“We were dealt with some very difficult cards in 2020,” Jordan said during a zoom call during the launch announcement. ‘I hope 2021 will be better.’
He later added: ‘Stop reza is too strong for us to stop right now and I keep chill bumps here while talking about it. I am so proud that the relationship has grown and we will continue to do great things with Charlotte and the community. ‘
During a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Freedom Drive location last year, Jordan was emotionally distracted as he emphasized the importance of adequate, accessible health care.
“It’s a very emotional thing for me to be able to give back to a community that has supported me for years,” Jordan said during the ceremony.
