Like many traditions in 2020 – Thanksgiving itself – Messi’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will not go on as usual.
The parade, which usually draws plenty of spectators to New York City, will be largely the only broadcast-event this year due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
Th M’s Messi’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will split on its usual 2.5-mile route to prevent large crowds. Instead of having 80 to 100 handlers, Messi and NBC say, some of the balloons will be designed with a “special rigid anchor teacher framework of five special vehicles.”
The event is also limited to 88% of its general participants, and those people are spread over three days (although the parade is still being broadcast as an event).
In addition to changes to the normal parade route, number of participants, balloon handlers, and more than three days, the parade has implemented the following changes:
- Everyone participating in the parade is being checked for KVWID-19 before the event and check the wellness.
- No one under the age of 18 is allowed to participate. This year, high school and college ledge marching bands are being replaced by professional marching bands and ensembles.
- Presenters and participants socially wear masks to bridge the gap.
- Most of the participants are from the tri-state sector.
The parade will allow Broadway’s “Into Pride – The Life and Times of the Temptations,” “Hamilton,” “Mean Girls” and performances to close due to the COVID-19 epidemic. “Jagged Little Pill.”
