Merchant recalls gluten-free better helibut allergens

Traders in 19 states are recalling frozen fish sold at JJ stores because it contains wheat and milk, which were not listed on the label.

In a recall notice posted on the Food and Drug Administration’s website, Seattle-based supplier Orca Bay Foods, and Washington Shington said the trader’s brand of gluten-free Better Helibut had a 10-ounce box of p 1,550 pounds due to an unknown allergen.

To date no illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported, the merchant Joe said in a statement on its website, adding that all affected products have been “removed from sale and destroyed”.

The recall halibut has code 53 53737312660 and the best at the end of November 5, 2021 is “if best used”. The product is SQ00503822.

Fish were sold in Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont and Wisconsin. According to the recall notice.

The trader says consumers with allergies or sensitivities to wheat or milk should not eat fish. “We urge you to discard this product or return it to any merchant for a full refund,” Kariya said.

“People with allergies or severe sensitivities to wheat and milk run the risk of a serious or fatal allergic reaction if they use this product,” Orca Bay Foods said in its notice.
