When Meghan and Harry announced that they were going to have a baby.
Meghan and Harry shared the news they expected with the rest of the world shortly after they told the royal family in 2018.
The couple reportedly shared the news with many family members when they reunited at Princess Eugenie’s wedding on October 12, 2018. The public announcement was made only a few days later when the Duke and Duchess embarked on their real tour. to Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji.
Book claims that the moment provoked the anger of some royalty
The new book entitled Royals at war by reporters Andy Tillett and Dylan Howard claim that the timing of the announcement of Harry and Meghan’s baby caused outrage in the family.
According to the authors, some royals were concerned that Meghan became pregnant so quickly after her May 2018 wedding to “ensure that her connection to the family was now irrevocable and gave her even more power.”
Tillett and Howard added that many of their family members were also upset that the couple decided to tell everyone about Princess Eugenie’s special day.
“Meghan put her foot up when she decided it would be the ideal time to announce that she and Harry were expecting their first child,” the authors wrote. “This was a great social farce, even if you weren’t a member of royalty, stealing the limelight from Eugenie, who was furious, like her mother, Sarah.”
However, claims like these have been disputed in the past, with palace sources counteracting them and claiming that Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, and even Princess Eugenie all knew before the wedding.
Do the Duke and Duchess of Sussex plan to have more children?
On May 6, 2019, Meghan gave birth to Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. After her birth, there have been constant rumors about when and if the couple plans to have more children. Well, in September 2019, Harry confirmed that they would like to have another little one.
During an interview with British Vogue, the prince told conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall that he and his wife would have only two children in total to be more environmentally friendly.
“I always had a connection and a love for nature. I see it differently now, no doubt, “said the duke. “But I always wanted to try and make sure of that, even before I had a child and hoped to have children …”
“Not many!” Dr. Goodall chimed in to which Harry replied, “Two, max!”
No matter how Harry’s family felt about his announcement, Sussex fans were excited and that will be the case the next time they share baby news.
