The Duchess of Sussex was in a relationship with Hollywood producer and talent agent Trevor Engelson in 2004 and they married in 2011. But not long after her engagement, Meghan landed her role in Suits, the filming of which was in Toronto. With her in Canada, and Trevor at work in Los Angeles, she began to drift apart.
However, according to a biography entitled ‘Finding Freedom’ by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, she also thought he had cruel her rebellious star.
Meghan apparently pointed out to her closest friends why Trevor did not always act when he supported her career, seeing as he had so many contacts in the sector.
Indeed, it felt like the dynamic of their relationship was where he was the more “dominant” character.
When Meghan landed her role in the TV legal drama Suits, which turned out to be a weird success, the dynamics began to change.

“Suddenly the dynamic was different and he didn’t like it.”

He told the Daily Mail: “Trevor is a person too good to be true.
‘He has made successes of many people who have worked for him.
‘So I think the word you use in England for this claim would be’ clutter ‘. We would say ‘trash’. ‘
He added that the reasons for the marriage given in the book were done to protect Meghan’s reputation because she was someone “who did something wrong and should show herself well”.
Meghan’s feeling that Trevor did not support her seems to be building for years, according to the 2018 book ‘Meghan: A Hollywood Princess’.
Royal biographer Andrew Morton claimed that Meghan used Trevor to cast her in one of his films – which he did not do at first – and she felt that he was not trying to contain her.
It was around 2006 that the issue of role first became a source of “conflict” for the couple, when Meghan worked as a briefcase girl on the TV game show Deal or No Deal.
While many of her colleagues were happy for the opportunity, Meghan saw it as just a step towards bigger things and focused her efforts on auditions for more serious acting roles.
The driven producer and ambitious actress relationship is a Hollywood classic, yet Meghan felt like Trevor sniffing for roles.
Mr Morton wrote; “During Meghan’s time at Deal or No Deal, Trevor had a movie in production, a marital comedy ‘License to Wed’ starring the funny man Robin Williams and Mandy Moore.
Meghan secretly hoped that there would be a role for her, but the bit parts that might have suited her went to more experienced actresses who had worked with director Ken Kwapis in the TV series The Office.
“It was becoming a source of conflict between the couple. Meghan was disappointed that Trevor did not visit her in some of his productions.”

Trevor always had stacks of scripts that he read every hour of the day and worked hard for his clients, even handing out business cards in cafes.
However, he used his position as head of the production company Underground to land his own girlfriend no roles.
Later, when Trevor went up in the world, she appeared in small roles in some of his films – The Candidate, and Remember Me in 2010, described by Mr Morton as “a few crumbs”
Mr. Morton wrote: “Meghan did her best to shine as a beautiful, talented and supportive girlfriend of a bona fide mover and shaker, who could now afford to give Meghan some crumbs from his groaning stack of scripts.
“At least it would stop her from constantly nagging him to give her a share in one of his productions.”
By 2011, however, Meghan was in Suits and did not need Trevor’s help finding roles anymore.
They divorced in 2013 and three years later Meghan met Prince Harry, whom she married in 2018.
Meanwhile, in 2019, Trevor married dietitian Tracey Kurland.
