MCU X-Men: Another Original Star Wants To Return To Marvel Series: “I’d Be So Surprised”

Fans are busy speculating what the X-Men will look like when they inevitably return to the big screen. But as of now, we don’t know what the Marvel Cinematic Universe has in mind for the MCU X-Men.

After all, rumors abound about how Sony’s Spider-Man movies and the DC Extended Universe will embrace the multiverse. And with the next Strange doctor Sequel that brings that concept to the MCU, all bets are off.

To that end, another Fox star X Men The series is ready to repeat its role.

Marvel Studios has not announced its plans for the MCU X-Men.

Over the course of his 12-movie career, Fox’s X Men The series has faced more than its fair share of problems. Comic book fans have constantly complained about the freedoms taken with the source material. And several of the movies, including those from 2019 X-Men: Dark Phoenix – have been poorly received by the public and critics.

However, the best sign that Marvel Studios might plan to start again is the convoluted timeline that X Men Movies have created. Following the initial trilogy, Fox released a four-part prequel / reboot series, as well as solo spin-offs for Wolverine and Deadpool. And none of these individual buds really fit narratively.

Because of that, many fans have assumed that the MCU X-Men would cut ties to all of the above. But Marvel Studios has made no official announcement about what it plans to do with the Marvel mutants. Will the X-Men MCUs, like Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, offer their own distinctive version, or will elements of the past be introduced in the new version?

2000 movie star ‘X-Men’ ready to reprise role

As Marvel allegedly puts its plans in order, the world is eagerly awaiting an update to the MCU’s X-Men. Meanwhile, fans and past stars have stepped in. Dafne Keen, who plays Laura Kinney, also known as X-23 in Logan – has said that “absolutely” would repeat X-23 for the MCU. Now another Fox series star has said he would return, too.

In a recent interview with Inverse, actor Bruce Davison addressed whether he would be open to a return from the Marvel movie. Davison memorably played Senator Robert Kelly in the 2000s X Men and again briefly in 2003 X2: United X-Men. And although the actor said he “isn’t really interested” in the alleged Disney reboot, he remains open to participating in a new X-Men project.

“I would drop dead. I would be very surprised, ”Davison said. “I’d be more than happy to do anything that had to do with it, but I’m certainly not holding my breath.” But with the MCU possibly selecting elements from past franchises, is the return of Senator Kelly from Davison really that unfathomable?

The MCU set a precedent to support returning players

After all, Spider-Man: away from home featured the surprising return of J. Jonah Jameson from JK Simmons. Simmons of course played the same role in Sam Raimi’s original Spiderman trilogy. And just as Jameson represents the public threat to Spider-Man, so does Senator Kelly for the X-Men.

In the comics, Senator Kelly is a vocal opponent of the mutants. And in the original X MenDavison’s version proposes the Mutant Registration Act. Even if the MCU X-Men mostly starts over, bringing Davison to play a similar role could be a smart nod to the past. X Men films.

Also, the X-Men MCUs might not be as disconnected as fans might think. If reported by Evan Peters, who played Quicksilver on Fox’s X Men series: Joining the MCU, Marvel Studios could have something far more ambitious in mind than a direct reboot of the X-Men.
