One of the benefits of having a PC version of Marvel’s Avengers is that it can detect dataminers gold.

Marvel’s Avengers over the weekend its first beta on PC (and Xbox) host, which has surprisingly led to some discoveries by people with the know-how.

In other words: dataminers have dug a ball through the game’s files to reveal a number of possible future characters. The discoveries are divided into two sections, one includes characters named in the code as “playably unlocked” and another that has certain items attached to some of the leaks.

The full set of those tagged as “UnlockPlayableCharacter” was combined by Reddit user RoboMatters, who also made a video showing how they discovered each of them, and their references in the game’s code.

The list includes names that have already been confirmed, both from the launch line and from arrival to post-launch like Hawkeye. Things get more interesting further down the list as you go. Big names like Black Panther, Ant-Man, Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange appear, alongside more obscure characters like Mockingbird, She-Hulk, and Kate Bishop.

These have all been discovered so far:

  • Ant-Man.
  • Black panther.
  • Captain Marvel.
  • Doctor Strange.
  • Falcon.
  • Kate Bishop (various Hawkeye).
  • Mar-Vell.
  • Mockingbird.
  • Quake.
  • Scarlet Witch.
  • She-Hulk.
  • Fisy.
  • War machine.
  • Wasp.
  • Winter soldier.

The second set, unveiled by 6plus4equals52, has some of the same names, and further verifies that – for some of them, at least – in fact characters are completely in the works. The simple reason for this is because it has references to some of its in-game items. Of course, none of this confirms that they’re coming to Marvel’s Avengers, but the idea is certainly interesting.

The full game is September 4th.
