Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, has reportedly reached out to help former NBA player Dalant West.

According to TMZ, Cuban is trying to keep in touch with the West after a photo of Penhandling at an intersection in Dallas surfaced on social media last week.

CNN could not independently verify the photo.

Mark Cuban and Dallas Mavericks were not immediately available for comment when contacted by CNN about attempts by CNN to reach out to the West’s family so far.

West Dallas played for a number of NBA teams, including the Mavericks.

Travel to the West – including bizarre behavior, financial hardship, walking with the law in 2009 and a diagnosis of bipolar disorder in 2008 that was later questioned by the West – has been well documented since joining the NBA in 2004.

After a stellar junior season, in which he beat St. Joseph Hawks to a 30-2 record and a run-scoring run in the 2004 NCAA Tournament, the Boston Celtics picked up the West late in the first round of the NBA Draft.
