The Reagan State team, which was selected to finish in the Pac Pac-12 before the season, after beating Loyola Chicago 65-58 on Saturday. The Beavers Elite are just the second No. 12 seed to reach the eighth and will face the winner of Saturday night’s game between Houston and Syracuse.
Reg Reagan State scored just three points in the first nine minutes of the game and went 9-9 against No. 8 Seed Ramblers. But the Beavers suppressed their own defense and eventually got an aggressive groove after a weak start.
Senior defender Ethan Thompson led the way with 22 points for O Reagan State, which benefited from 18-of-20 free-throw attempts. Cameron Krutwig led Loyola Chicago with 14 points and 10 rebounds, but the Ramblers struggled from the outside, making only 5-of-23 3-point attempts.
