A man who recorded the moment a person was assaulted by Protestants Sunday night at a federal courthouse in Portland, Ore., Said the city now feels like a ‘third world country. ‘
Drew Hernandez told Fox News that the man may have defended that a transgender woman was beaten and robbed by Black Lives Matter protesters when the mob turned its attention to him and his female companion. He got into the truck and drove away when he and the woman were attacked, Hernandez said.
“I think he just felt extremely threatened,” Hernandez told Fox News’ Dan Springer. “They chased him … until he finally crashed. When they finally caught him, they went nuts.
“This was great, extremely violent,” he said. “Sometimes I forget walking the streets of an American city in the Northwest. Sometimes I feel like you’re walking into a Third World province.”
OVER 60 PORTLAND 911 CALLS GO UNHEEDED OVERNIGHT AS POLICE RESPOND TO RIOT
A video posted online that has since gone viral shows a man sitting on the ground before another man runs from behind and kicks him in the face and kills him. The victim appeared to be deliberately knocking when bystanders came to his aid.
One witness called police to report to up to 10 people that “the man hit”, police said Monday. Some off-camera may be heard accusing the man of trying to run over Protestants.
The suspected attacker who stabbed the man has not been publicly identified by the Portland Police Bureau. Calls and emails to Fox News police were not returned.
Portland Police Department Chuck Lovell said detectives are investigating the attack and asking for help from the public via Twitter.
“PPB Assault Detectives are actively investigating this alarming incident that resulted in a man in the hospital,” the boss wrote. “If anyone has information about this event, please feel free to contact us. Public Safety is for all of us.”
Information from a Facebook account that believed the suspected attacker showed that he works at Portland International Airport. A spokeswoman for the airport told Fox News that person has not worked there since 2016.
Violence erupted Sunday when protests began in what has become a nocturnal event. Protestant mobs attacked and beat random people for no reason, Hernandez said.
“It’s literally like one thing after another,” he said. Just these random people, they start physically attacking. “
He said the man was seen in the video near a convenience store away from the protest when the attack happened. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has been recovered, police said in a news release Monday.
In the video, a person can be heard without a camera accused by the driver of trying to run over Protestants.
The attack comes as Portland continues to wrestle with nights of unrest that have become increasingly violent, leading to shootings, attacks, arson and the killing of deadly objects by police officers.

Hernandez described the environment in Portland since protests began weeks ago in developing countries where violence is widespread.
“There is this feeling of fear because the people are unpredictable, because the crime rates are high and police are not there to save you,” he said. “That’s kind of the feeling I get when I walk the streets of Portland.”
