Zuraida calls for a full investigation into the Triso ferry tragedy in S’wak

PETALING JAYA: Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamarauddin calls for a comprehensive investigation into the incident in which nine family members drowned after their vehicle fell off a ferry in Triso, Sarawak on Friday (1 of January).

Zuraida also offered his condolences to the family of the victims who were in the four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle.

“I pray that all members of the family will be patient and strong as they face this test.

“I believe that the relevant authorities will carry out a thorough investigation to prevent these accidents from happening again and to improve the quality of safety.”

“Pray that the souls of those involved rest in peace,” he said on Saturday (January 2).

A baby was reported to be among nine people believed to have died when a 4WD vehicle sank in the Batang Lupar River after falling off a Triso ferry on Friday.

The nine, five men and four women, also included several children.

The victims have been identified as the driver of the vehicle, Ronany Ting, 33; Siti Aisha Abdullah, 36; Ni Shuhada Mohamad, 16; Khairunnisa Muhamad, 14 years old; Alvin Phang, 12 years old; Wallace Phang and Mohd Aiman ​​Mohd Hamdan, both seven; Muhd Mustaqim Mohd Hamdan, five; and the infant, Mohd Ahmad Mohd Hamdan.
