GEORGE TOWN: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Supreme Council Member Zuraida Kamaruddin, agrees with his former boss Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad that this is not the right time to hold early general elections.

Zuraida said that with the current state of the economy and with the country still battling the Covid-19 pandemic, it is best to let the current administration continue until the end of its term.

“We are just over two years from the last general election, so it is not the right time to hold general elections now.

“And if at the end of the term there is any party interested in becoming prime minister, they can object,” he said.

Without naming anyone, Zuraida said that those who wanted to be Prime Minister should work hard now so that people can evaluate their performance when the time comes.

He also suggested that those who announced that there would be an apparent change in the Federal Government recently should be reprimanded, as it has caused instability in the country.

Earlier on Wednesday (September 23), Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim claimed that he had a “strong and formidable majority” to form the next government.

However, he stopped short in revealing the numbers he had, adding that he would first seek an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who has been in treatment at the National Institute. from the heart. (IJN) from Monday (September 21).
