Zoom, the must-have app of the year 2020, will deliver your holiday gifts early this year. As of December 23, the video conferencing platform decided to lift the 40-minute limit for free calls during the Christmas season.

“Covid-19 has changed the way we live, work and celebrate in 2020 and, like everything else this year, the holiday season doesn’t look the same,” Zoom notes on his blog. The US-based app, which saw an explosion in sales figures this year, is once again proving its ability to adapt to the health crisis. While London is under a strict lockdown and the holiday season in many parts of Canada will have to be spent in small groups, the video conferencing platform has announced that it is easing restrictions on free accounts. A good way to attract even more members by offering an alternative to encourage people to stay home.

On its blog, the company has revealed three periods during which the 40-minute limit for free accounts will be lifted: “Whether to meet on the last day of Hanukkah, celebrate Christmas, celebrate the New Year, or mark the last days of Kwanzaa, those who connect with friends and family will not be interrupted. “

Starting December 23, free accounts around the world will be able to enjoy unlimited calls, with no time limit, until December 26 at 6 am ET (7 pm Malaysia). The measure will also apply for New Years celebrations, from December 30 at 10 am ET (11 pm Malaysia) to January 2, 2021 at 6 am, users will still be able to enjoy unlimited calls with an account free.

To take advantage of this, no action will be required from the users. Zoom will automatically lift the time restriction on free accounts. – AFP Relaxnews
