PETALING JAYA: Former Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz (Photo) has denied allegations that she and her family were involved in the 1MDB scandal.

“I want to reiterate that my family and I have never received sums of money from 1MDB.

“The accusations against me and my family are completely false and malicious,” Zeti said in a press release on Thursday (December 31).

Zeti said that he has fully cooperated with 1MDB’s investigations.

He also said that he had provided the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) with all the necessary information regarding the investigations into 1MDB and former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“I cannot comment further because I am a potential witness in the ongoing criminal trial of the former prime minister.

“Therefore, in my opinion, it would be an interference with the ongoing trial and potentially sub judice for me to make statements at this time.”

Zeti was responding to allegations that she and her family were involved in the 1MDB scandal.

The claims were posted by fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin on his Malaysia Today blog.

Umno’s youth secretary, Shahrul Nasrun Kamaruddin, filed a police report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters on Wednesday (December 30), saying that the allegations were a serious matter that should be investigated.
