KUANTAN: The Pahang National Security Council has assured the community surrounding the Covid-19 quarantine and treatment center here that everything will be under control.
Its director, Mohd Zairasyahli Shah Zakaria, said that security forces would keep the perimeter of the center at Sukpa Stadium secure at all times to prevent patients from leaving.
“There is no need to worry because security will be tight. We will make sure everything is ready and prepared before patients are brought here,” he said after inspecting the center in Indera Mahkota here on Thursday (December 10).
Zairasyahli said 115 low-risk foreign patients were scheduled to be placed at the center by Friday (December 11).
“This is to ensure that the current situation does not interfere with existing treatment and services in government hospitals and to give the people of Pahang more space to receive the best treatment.”
“This decision was made taking into account the interest of the citizens. The state government has maximized the level of security and control in the center so that the local community is not threatened by its presence and can continue with its daily life as usual. , ” he said.
Three locations in Bentong have been placed under an improved MCO as of December 23: Amber Court Apartment, Ria Apartment, and Rumah Kongsi Kampung Semaut.
Zairasyahli said that Sukpa Stadium had been selected as a quarantine and treatment center since the beginning of the MCO because it was easy to secure.
He said there was no other suitable place in Bentong either.
“Places like the Institut Aminuddin Baki are not suitable because they have been used as centers for health personnel and authorities who will enforce the improved MCO in the three locations,” he said.
Pahang Police Chief Comm Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said that up to 364 meters of barbed wire had been placed around the center.
“The security forces will be on duty 24 hours a day. We are confident that everything will work out. The most important thing is to ensure that patients cannot leave,” he said.
