TANJUNG MALIM: Minister of Plantation and Commodity Industries Datuk Dr. Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali (pix) He said there is no need for him to resign after he recently failed to comply with the mandatory home quarantine.

The Kuala Nerus Member of Parliament said he would not accept the demands of certain sectors and urged him to resign, as the crime was not an act of misconduct.

“It involved a violation of Standard Operating Procedures and I will leave it to the police,” he told reporters after the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) certification program at Slim River near here today.

Mohd Khairuddin has received backlash from the public with some of them demanding that he resign after failing to undergo the 14-day quarantine upon returning from a visit to Turkey last month.

Yesterday, the Deputy Director (Investigation / Legal) of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ), DCP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, said that the police opened an investigation document after 27 complaints were filed against the minister.

Mohd Khairuddin also confirmed that he and three members of his family had recorded their statements on the matter yesterday.

He said his official visit to Turkey was to discuss certain issues, including Malaysian palm oil exports to the country, as well as projects involving Terengganu.

When asked if he was satisfied with the police investigation, Mohd Khairuddin said: “I am satisfied and have apologized and have even contributed my earnings from May to August to the Covid-19 Fund,” he said. – Named
