BEIJING, Dec. 26 (Bloomberg): Lin Qi, CEO of Chinese video game publisher Yoozoo Games, died after being hospitalized amid a Shanghai police investigation into an alleged poisoning case. He was 39 years old.

Yoozoo announced that Lin, the founder, president and main shareholder, died on Friday without giving a specific cause.

The Chinese billionaire was admitted to hospital recently after experiencing “acute symptoms of illness” and his condition was “stable,” the Shanghai-based company said in a statement two days ago.

Shanghai police said in a social media post on December 23 that a 39-year-old man with the surname Lin was allegedly poisoned and that a suspect was detained amid the investigation.

A 39-year-old colleague surnamed Xu was reportedly detained in the middle of the investigation. The suspect works for a film company, Yoozoo said without elaborating.

Yoozoo, also called Youzu Interactive Co., has released titles that include “Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming”.

In September, he struck a deal with Netflix Inc to adapt the science fiction novel “The Three-Body Problem” into a series.

Yoozoo said that the company will continue its normal operations and look for a successor for Lin.
