Microsoft continues to move forward with the launch of Xbox Series X, its next next-gen console on the way for release this holiday. The future entry into Microsoft’s line of gaming consoles promises considerable advancement over previous devices, with an anticipated gameplay sneak peek scheduled for May 7, featuring titles like the recently unveiled Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. And while current world events present unforeseen hurdles around production, Microsoft still seems confident to deliver Xbox Series X later in 2020.
Microsoft Executive Vice President of Gaming Phil Spencer says the Xbox X Series is still coming this year, speaking on CNBC’s “Squawk Alley” on Thursday. The Xbox boss spoke about Microsoft’s third-quarter earnings, while reflecting on current next-generation efforts with Xbox Series X and games targeting the system.

Microsoft is not the only company affected by COVID-19, with many manufacturing sources outside of China, or one that adapts to the challenges related to the recovery of Eastern production lines. But as with any new hardware version, there is limited availability potential at launch, especially in the current climate.
We’ll see more of Xbox Series X on May 7 through its digital games showcase, which is expected to feature a handful of third-party titles on the new system. That includes the new Viking-themed Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, along with titles from other studios being developed for Xbox Series X.
