PUTRAJAYA: Only those in the public sector and industries under the Ministry of Industry and International Trade (Miti) are affected by the work-from-home directive in areas under conditional movement control order as of Thursday (October 22) says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The defense minister said that workers in essential services, security and the informal sector are not affected by this directive.
“Workers who work in retail, restaurants, supermarkets and convenience stores, as well as in the plantation and agriculture sectors can work normally.
“Police and military personnel, employees of public transportation companies, taxi drivers, email and delivery services are also not affected by the directive,” he said on Wednesday (October 21).
On Tuesday, the government issued a work-from-home directive for a total of one million workers in the industry and public sectors in Selangor, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
The order aims to limit movement and contact between workers to cut the chain of Covid-19 infections.
Ismail Sabri said the director general of the public service department and Miti had drawn up a list of those affected by the work from home directive.
He said that Miti met with representatives of the industry players to explain the matter and asked the respective associations and bodies to explain the government directive to their members.
The work-from-home directive is in effect as long as the conditional MCO applies in these areas.
The order for Sabah is until October 26, while the order for Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya ends on October 27 and in Labuan, it will end on October 30.
