MADRID, SPAIN (ANN): In a bizarre revenge attempt, a woman in Spain put glue in her own vagina and framed her ex-boyfriend only for authorities to discover her plan and arrest her.
Vanesa Gesto accused her former lover Iván Rico of kidnapping and torturing her in 2016, according to Spanish-language news reports through The Sun on September 3.
Gesto claimed that Rico had kidnapped her outside her home and that she was taken away in a black car. She claimed that Rico left her half-naked.
Rico was arrested after being charged with the Gesto crimes and spent several days in detention, according to the report.
However, Gesto’s story began to unravel when investigators obtained a CCTV video showing Gesto buying the glue from a supermarket, along with “kidnapping equipment”, which included knives that he used to harm himself.
Police also found that contrary to Gesto’s claims, security footage showed that only one vehicle passed the location where she claimed she was kidnapped, and it was a truck, not a black car.
The ex-boyfriend’s brother, Rafael, said that Rico was sleeping when the alleged kidnapping occurred and revealed that his mother “spent days crying after he was arrested.”
Gesture, nicknamed the “sticky liar” in her country, has been arrested and is now sentenced on two counts, including inventing a crime, which landed her 10 years in jail.
The written judgment published earlier this week by a court in the Spanish city of León also ordered Gesto to pay Rico 25,000 euros (about P1.4 million) in compensation, according to the report.
Gesto’s former lawyer, Emilia Esteban, also cut ties with Gesto and pointed out that she felt “humiliated and cheated” because she was used to believing him. – Philippine Daily Inquirer / Asia News Network
