Woman jumps out of a shopping center in Miri and suffers injuries

MIRI: A woman suffered serious bodily injury after she was said to have jumped from the top floor of a downtown mall.

Members of the public said the incident occurred around 10.15am on Tuesday (Nov. 3).

They claimed to see her jump from a ledge about 10 meters high.

The head of Miri’s Civil Defense Unit, Kpt Usman Harto, said they received an emergency alert from the public that a woman had fallen from the Bintang Megamall.

He said staff were at the scene and found a woman lying on the concrete pavement outside the mall.

“She was in a semi-conscious state with serious injuries to both legs. We rushed her to Miri hospital.”

“No identification documents were found. He is estimated to be in his 20s,” he said.

Kpt Usman said the case has been referred to the police for investigation.
