JOHOR BAHRU: An electronic call driver was indicted in Magistrates Court here today with 40 counts of cheating in the sale and purchase of land in Forest City, near Iskandar Puteri, for more than RM2.4 million, last year.

Noridah Abd Aziz, 39, has pleaded not guilty after the charges were read before Judge R. Salini today.

He had allegedly committed the crime under Section 420 of the Penal Code, read in conjunction with Section 34 of the same code, by tricking P Krishnan, a motorcycle shop owner, into conducting financial transactions worth 2.48 million. from ringgit between March and July 2019 during a piece of land in Forest City here.

Noridah is charged with committing the crime together with another suspect who remains at large.

If convicted, she faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and a fine.

Assistant District Attorney Chan Choon Yew appeared for the indictment while the defendant was not represented.

Salini granted the defendant bail of RM 5,000 for each count (with a total bail value of RM 200,000) in a guarantee, as well as ordering the defendant to hand over her passport to the court and report to the nearest police station a Once a month.

The court set October 13 for the re-mention and presentation of documents.
