BUKIT MERTAJAM: A woman believed to have killed a pregnant cat and injured another with an iron bar was arrested today

Seberang Perai Tengah District Police Chief Shafee Abd Samad said the 51-year-old woman working as a stockbroker was detained for further investigation by the Department of Veterinary Services.

According to him, the incident occurred yesterday at 1:20 p.m., after two men who were feeding the cats heard the woman complaining that the cats had defecated in front of her house.

“The woman then hit the two cats that were being fed by the two men on the floor Pintas Kalui 1, Seberang Jaya, with an iron bar, killing the pregnant cat and injuring the other,” he said in a statement here. today.

He said that one of the men contacted the police and that the Department of Veterinary Services had conducted an investigation under Section 29 (1) (e) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015.

Anyone found guilty under the law faces a fine of not less than 20,000 and not more than 100,000 ringgit, or a prison term of up to three years or both.

Meanwhile, Shafee said police were also investigating the case under Section 324 of the Penal Code because the woman was beaten by multiple people after the incident.

He said the woman would be taken to Bukit Mertajam magistrates court for a remand order tomorrow morning.
