Woman among four arrested in fatal accident involving police in Johor

JOHOR BARU: Police arrested four suspects, including a woman for a fatal car incident, which claimed the life of a police officer.

Johor Police Chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the suspects, aged 23 to 27, were arrested in a series of raids on Sunday (November 1) around Kampung Melayu Seelong, Senai and Kampung Melayu Pandan between 2 pm and 9 pm

“The suspects’ controls found that they all tested positive for methamphetamine, while two of them had drug records.

“The woman, a single mother of two children, works in a factory where she admitted to using drugs with the other three suspects about three days before the incident. One of the suspects is her boyfriend, “Comm Ayob said at a press conference at the state police headquarters here on Monday (November 2).

He added that the woman had rented the car from a car rental company here where the suspects used it to buy drugs.

Comm Ayob said police recovered two modified bottles in the car used by the suspects to use drugs.

“Investigations so far revealed that three of the male suspects, who are all unemployed, were inside the vehicle, including the driver, during the incident,” he added.

Comm Ayob said the four were in custody until November 5 to assist with investigations under Section 41 (1) of the Highway Transportation Act of 1987, Section 186 of the Penal Code, and Section 15 (1) (a) of Dangerous Drugs. Act of 1957.

He reminded the public to always adhere to road safety rules.

“When the police order you to stop, stop instead of fleeing, as you will put your life and the lives of others at risk,” he said.

Meanwhile, Comm Ayob said that 32-year-old L / Kpl Mohammad Fadhirul Musa, who was the driver of the patrol, was responding well to treatment and was taken out of the intensive care unit at Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI).

“He has been transferred to the normal HSI ward and did not suffer any serious injury to his organ,” he added.
