Liverpool bolstered their hopes of being in the top four with a 1-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers in a game that was stopped by a terrible injury to Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio.
Former Wolves winger Diogo Jota hit his former club with the only goal of the game just before half-time. From a breakout near midfield, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah played a one-two before Mane dropped the ball for a rushing Jota squeezing his low shot into the first post.

The half-time lead marked the first time Jurgen Klopp’s team took the lead at half-time in nine Premier League games dating back to January.
The goal was also Jota’s first with the club since November 28, and his first since he returned from a knee injury earlier this month.
The game took a terrifying turn just minutes from full time after a clash between Patricio and defender Conor Coady left Portugal’s No. 1 immobile on the field. Patricio, who appeared to suffer a head injury in the crash, required 10 minutes of medical attention before being pulled from the field on a stretcher and replaced by John Ruddy, who was admitted as a substitute for concussion.
“He’s conscious, he remembers what happened and he’s conscious,” Wolves coach Nuno said of Patricio’s condition after the game.
The moderate victory takes Liverpool to sixth place with 46 points from 29 games, five points behind Chelsea for the last place in the Champions League and two behind West Ham fifth. The wolves, for their part, remain 13th with 35 points.
