YOUR OPINION | “Muhyiddin, why do you need the attorney general to state that you are still the prime minister?”
Muhyiddin: AG claims I’m still PM, Palace hasn’t summoned me
Vijay47: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, this is more confusing than Confucius and, sadly, your earlier bravado seems to quickly dissipate.
First, how does the attorney general (AG) enter the scene? He does not decide on the appointment of the prime minister and in any case I do not think that Idrus Harun can draw any conclusions: he has not received any legal declaration (SD) from a previous AG.
The part that is really confusing in his scenario is where he claims that if Parliament is dissolved, Anwar would be the standby prime minister. How would that be?
If he is already prime minister after his audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Anwar would not like Parliament to be dissolved, especially since, as he claims, he would have a “formidable majority”.
For better or for worse, in Covid-19 or in health, Anwar would be our prime minister, the third of this year, and the wait is not necessary, thank you.
The only one now eager to take down Parliament is you, Muhyiddin, as you hope that a general election will provide you with at least some flimsy straws to cling to power.
If you were to dissolve Parliament under your supervision, you would be the pending prime minister, not Anwar. Who is the scholar who writes your script?
Vgeorgemy: Muhyiddin must admit that he has lost the majority and that his regime lost legitimacy to rule our beloved land.
The Perikatan Nasional (PN) regime, at no time, has not sought the confidence of Dewan Rakyat.
A mere government employee on behalf of the attorney general (AG) cannot determine the authenticity of a regime that has lost the majority in the Dewan or interfere with the constitutional rights of citizens.
The AG has no role in determining the intention of the rakyat and is not a member of the Dewan Rakyat to express its views officially. We believe that what the AG said is his opinion and does not represent the opinion of the population.
The regime has lost its legitimacy to rule our nation. You must accept the tradition of parliamentary democracy by surrendering your resignation to the head of the country, our beloved King, to exercise his constitutional duty.
Centennial Egg: It’s time for you to go, Muhyiddin. You brought a lot of undesirable characters to the cabinet and to our GLCs (government-linked companies).
They were not what the majority of Malaysians voted for. They defied SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) during their rule and were not harshly reprimanded, compared to ordinary men and women.
His team of ministers and the head of the GLC are bad negotiators when it comes to national interests. Guilty plea agreements were made and committed, allowing offenders to get out of prison.
There were many accidents on the roads, but I don’t see the Minister of Transport on the ball, rather his ministers were more eager to capture Sabah in their fold, spending considerable time campaigning there.
During his government, the politicking was intense and continuous. This is what will be remembered and recorded in the annals of modern Malaysian history.
Malaysia Bharu: Muhyiddin’s competition and lust for power are for the people to judge and whether or not PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim is lying is best determined by a neutral party, such as Agong or Parliament.
It would be unwise for Muhyiddin to drag the AG into this political enigma of who has the majority support. Furthermore, as recently designated by the backdoor scheme, the AG itself is an interested party.
Since Agong is not well enough to receive the disputing parties, the alternative place to resolve this matter is Parliament, where Muhyiddin can submit to a vote of confidence, after which, if necessary, the options are weighed by Agong.
Hmmmmmmmm: Muhyiddin, why do you need the attorney general to affirm that you are still the prime minister? So far, all Anwar has done is announce that he has the numbers to take you down.
This has yet to be tested. So, of course, you are still the prime minister. Surely, you don’t need the AG to tell you this?
EM: Has the attorney general stated that you are still the prime minister? You mean the one you designated?
Son of JB: It will take AG some time to reach a decision on the legality to change the main position in the country.
He is still fighting to bring charges against the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, although it is a very simple case.
Kawak: “I’m not crazy about power,” Muhyiddin said.
That statement is dishonest. If you are not crazy about power, there will be no Sheraton Move and buying MPs.
IndigoToucan1627: Even if Anwar is successful, there is still no guarantee that there will not be another hit.
To take it even further, even if a GE is declared, there can still be hits as long as the frogs are allowed to jump. To put an end to this nonsense, a law should be passed banning parties.
If a deputy wanted to jump, he should resign and call a by-election. Then, and only then, will an elected government be guaranteed full office.
Crocodile Dundee: I guess it’s time to send some of our elected deputies to Tanjung Bahagia for a mental assessment.
It is absolutely wrong, from any point of view, for a deputy to go against the will and mandate of the rakyat, no matter what his excuse is.
For the good of our nation, all political parties and stakeholders must sit down and write a policy to make party jumping illegal, with mandatory life sentences attached, especially after winning the rakyat term.
It is an open secret that all race-based parties are a time bomb for our nation. Please wake up before it’s too late. After 63 years of independence from the British, is this the best we can do for our nation?
Morning glory: “I think I have done my job,” Muhyiddin said.
So are you done forever? Use the front door to exit, please.
