West Brom did not count on defender Branislav Ivanovic and midfielder Matheus Pereira for the game after both tested positive for coronavirus during the week, while Spurs coach José Mourinho opted to play Kane, Gareth Bale and Son. Heung-Min for the first time together.
However, West Brom handled the Spurs attacking threat well in the first half and even provided some opportunities.

Eric Dier was forced to make one last defense in the 26th minute when Callum Robinson found space and beat Hugo Lloris with his cross. Karlan Grant looked ready to smash the ball before Dier jumped in with a last-minute header.
Both teams gave a little more excitement in the second half with Giovani Lo Celso, who replaced the injured Tanguy Ndombele, who was about to score in the 67th minute. Sergio Reguilón’s shot was blocked in the six-yard box and rebounded for Lo Celo, who hit him off target.
Moments later, Conor Gallagher hit the outside of the post on the other end.
They were a tight couple of minutes around Lloris’s goal with the keeper forced to a stop after Darnell Furlong headed a strong cross his way before Grant crashed the rebound.
Mourinho had said before the game that Bale was still not ready for the full 90 minutes in the Premier League and was replaced in 78 minutes by Lucas Moura.
Kane managed to save a win for the Spurs with a header in the 88th minute after Matt Doherty threw a ball forward.
West Brom is yet to achieve a league win this season and remains in 18th position.
“Goals always feel better when you win and that was a tough game,” Kane said after the game.
“We played much better in the second half, but they defended for their lives, as we knew they would. It was about getting that big breakthrough and luckily I got a little header there.
“We are delighted with the three points. There are many important games to come after the international break, but we are happy to be the best in the league. So far, everything is going well.”
