West Brom 3-3 Chelsea: Fans believe Kai Havertz got away with one hand before Tammy Abraham’s draw

Chelsea drew 3-3 against West Brom at The Hawthorns.

Tammy Abraham scored in the 93rd minute to avoid Frank Lampard’s blush.

The Blues were 3-0 down at halftime, but staged a notable comeback to score a point.

Two defensive errors gave West Brom a 2-0 lead after just 25 minutes.

First, Marcos Alonso’s casual header was taken advantage of by the hosts and Callum Robinson made an effort past Willy Caballero to overtake them.

Then summer signing Thiago Silva slipped while in possession and Robinson grabbed the ball before calmly passing Caballero to double West Brom’s lead.

Things were turning into a nightmare for Lampard, and they got even worse minutes later.

Kyle Bartley led the ball home from close range after Chelsea failed to clear a corner.

3-0 down after 28 minutes is not how the Blues had worked things out.

Summer arrivals Kai Havertz and Timo Werner started the match and, against a West Brom team that had conceded eight goals in their first two league games, both forwards would have expected more opportunities in the first 45 minutes.

But it wasn’t until they were 3-0 down that Chelsea really started to win.

Lampard’s talk at halftime from the team would have been fierce and Chelsea responded by returning to the game in the 54th minute with a long-range shot from Mason Mount.

Mount resembled Lampard in the way he hit the ball from a distance.

The second half was attack versus defense and Chelsea managed to break through again in the 70th minute.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, who came into the break, connected well with Havertz before saving the ball to make it 3-2.

Silva was replaced by Olivier Giroud when Lampard made his intentions clear and Abraham scored in injury time to secure a point.

However, Kai Havertz has been accused of having his way with handball in preparation for Abraham’s goal.
