SHAH ALAM: The weekly cabinet meeting has been canceled because five ministers are in quarantine after returning from Sabah’s state elections last Saturday.
Sinar Harian reported that the five ministers are Chief Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussien, Minister of the Interior Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee.
Ismail Sabri (Photo) said he underwent a swab test as soon as he returned from Sabah and will need to be quarantined at home until the results are released.
“The swab test is to confirm the status and if the result is negative then it is free from quarantine.
“But even if you are free from quarantine after testing negative, you must continue to practice self-monitoring. Obey SOP (standard operating procedure),” he said in a statement on his Facebook on Tuesday (September 29).
Ismail Sabri also recommended that anyone with symptoms get a swab test immediately at a clinic or hospital.
“However, 14 days of quarantine is mandatory even if the result is negative if there was close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19,” he said.
Hishammuddin received instructions from the Ministry of Health (MOH) to self-quarantine at his home from September 28 after returning from a campaign in Sabah.
“In Sabah, I went to Pitas to help in the campaign of Barisan Nasional candidate, Sufian Abdul Karim, who tested positive for Covid-19. I was instructed to self-quarantine at home even though the result came back negative. arriving from Sabah, “he said. .

“Despite complying with the POE during the campaign, we are faced with an invisible virus and the risk of infection remains high,” he wrote on Facebook.
