SEREMBAN: A witness told the Forensic Court here today that he was unable to initially determine whether the body found was that of Nora Anne Quoirin as it was far from him.
Witness Chong Yue Fatt, 57, who was the first person to find the body on the 10th day of Nora Anne’s search and rescue (SAR) operation, said that when he saw the body, he yelled loudly to alert to the members of his team who had found the body.
“As soon as we found the body, we all tried to contact the authorities but we couldn’t because there was no phone coverage. I told an Indian on our team to leave the area and tell his father to call the fire brigade to come to the scene.
“While we awaited the arrival of the authorities, we reminded each other that we should not approach the body so as not to compromise or destroy the evidence. We waited a long time, about an hour or two, ”said witness number 28 in Mandarin.
The investigation procedure before the coroner Maimoonah Aid to determine the cause of death of the Irish-French girl entered its twelfth day today.
According to Chong, the body of the teenager, found about 50 meters from a hut that the search team had previously passed through, was lying on a rock, as if she were asleep.
Responding to a question from Deputy Prosecutor Nuralis Mat, acting as coordinator of the investigation, about what else was around the hut, Chong said: “I saw food containers, like Maggie and drink bottles.”
When asked by the coroner who decided the search area, Chong said it was done after a proposal from a friend named Chan, who told him that he (Chan) had called a monk from Thailand in an effort to track down the teenager with special needs. .
“The monk had told Chan to find the girl near the areas with a river,” he said.
Meanwhile, witness number 29, Muhammad Firdaus Kamarudin, 35, said he saw a woman with long brown hair, of medium complexion and fair skin, bathing in a river in the area on August 4.
“I was heading to the water treatment plant in Gunung Berembun to work around 7pm. That’s when I saw, at a glance, a woman without clothes bathing with her back to me, ”he said.
Air Selangor Negeri Sembilan Sdn Bhd (SAINS) operator said that even though it was getting dark, he could still see the woman clearly, adding that it was normal for those staying at the resort to bathe in the area.
Firdaus said he informed the Civil Defense Force (APM) two days after what he had seen when he heard the news of the missing girl in the area.
Previously, witnesses 26 and 27: Seremban Fire and Rescue Station Chief Mohamad Idris, 52, and Negeri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Investigation Division Officer Faizal Ahmad, 40, they were called to testify.
