IPOH: The Department of Highway Transportation (JPJ) says it will work with other enforcement agencies on incidents involving bicyclists on the roads.

Its CEO, Datuk Seri Shaharuddin Khalid, said that in the context of the law, the RTD had no jurisdiction over cyclists and could only advise them on issues related to road safety.

He said this in response to a question about a group of cyclists who were photographed cycling on a road, allegedly near Seremban.

The image went viral on social media.

“We can work with other law enforcement agencies to investigate the problem together with the police, but we cannot issue subpoenas.

“When it comes to bicycles on the road, it’s more in the jurisdiction of local governments,” he said at a press conference after opening RTD’s Enforcement Highway Monitoring Center (EHMC) here on Monday (Sept. 14). ).

“As with the mat lajak issue, we will cooperate with the police to expedite the situation,” he added.
